After our last failed meeting, Anne and I had carried on messaging each other with a view to trying to meet up. It turned out that John, her partner, would be working not too far from me and Anne suggested that he and I might meet for a drink so we could get to know each other a bit before meeting with John. Normally this would not happen as I would suspect that there was no lady but a bi-male. However, Anne had rung me to explain about cancelling the last meet so I knew she was genuine.
We swapped messages and arranged which evening and time that I would meet him. She said she had passed on my number to John and he would text me in the day to confirm. I didn’t hear anything all day so assumed that his plans had changed. Anyway it wasn’t a big issue for me as it was lovely evening and I had a few beers in the garden instead.
Next morning I had a very apologetic message from Anne. She explained that John had come home early and she was mortified to find out he had not contacted me to let me know. It came across that she was fuming with him. I told her that it wasn’t a problem.
I do wonder if this is ever going to be a meeting between us. Only time and patience will tell.
