It always amazes me when I look on a swinging site and see that someone is saying to contact them via their e-mail. The e-mail address given appears to be their “normal” one and not one that they have created as their swinging ID. Likewise with those that say to contact them via MSN or Yahoo. Their ID is shown to anyone who cares to look. Why do I say about this? Well, consider your own e-mail address. Is it the same one that you use for FaceBook. If it is then anyone who wants to can do a search on FaceBook with your e-mail and, depending on how you have set up FaceBook, possibly see photos of you. So you take care not to show face photos on the swing site but effectively provide a link to your photos on FaceBook.
A lady I saw a couple of times didn’t believe me when I said that just by giving her normal e-mail out she was revealing a lot of potential information about her. To prove it to her, I put her e-mail into FaceBook. This showed her profile and her real name which she hadn’t told me. I then did a search on her name and she came up in a newspaper article from a couple of years ago. This article told me her husbands name. With his name, I did a search on something like 118.com and found out her home phone number and address. All that within 5 or 10 minutes.
Likewise with MSN / Yahoo instant message IDs, can reveal a lot about you without you realising. The IDs are quite often linked to a profile which shows a list of “Friends”. IF you have used your “normal” ID, the one you use for chatting to family and friends, then they are listed for anyone who knows you ID to possibly see. Also MSN tends to use your e-mail address as the ID and as I have said, e-mails are easy to use.
So my message is to always create a “swinging” e-mail and only ever use it for swinging / adult profiles. Never use it to link to FaceBook or give it out to those who don’t know what you get up to.
Another thing I think is important is not to give out your address unless you know and trust someone well. I always suggest meeting in hotel rather than at someone’s home. That way, I don’t know where they live, they don’t know where I do either. It prevents any embarrassing questions from nosy neighbours. And for single ladies especially, there is normally someone around in the hotel to hear you if you shout for help. For an example of that read “Receptionist Coitus Interuptus”. Oh yes and if you are overheard making some noise in the night, it is no where near as embarrassing to be heard by someone in a hotel than by your next door neighbour.
The other advantage to meeting in a hotel is that there is normally a bar in the hotel so you can meet for a no pressure drink and if the other party is not to your tastes then it is easy to leave rather than to get them to leave your house.
Obviously, the downside to a hotel is that someone has to pay for the stay and it can be a bit impersonal. Overall though for the sake of privacy, I would always suggest meeting in a hotel for the first time. Then if everything works out and you are happy then the next time could be somewhere else.
I made the mistake once of putting my face picture on a site. I thought that even if I was recognised then everyone was there for the same purpose and it wouldn’t be a problem. Yes being very naive there. The photo was only there a week or so before I had a phone call from my mother. Someone has sent her a letter with a copy of my profile!!!! Luckily there was only a photo of my face showing in one. The other photos were headless shots of my body. The face shot was the same one as on my FaceBook profile so I was able to explain it away as someone with a grudge making up something to cause problems. It transpired that my grandmother had also received a copy of the profile as well. I have reasonably good idea who it was that could be so vindictive but no proof. But I was shaken up enough that I left the scene for some 3 months as I felt that I was not able to meet anyone without wondering who if it was them or not. I obviously no longer have my face photos on any site – it does make it harder to meet people but privacy is more important to me.
Anyway that is my tips for safety and privacy. Back to the normal sex entries next time.

Thanks for the comments and hope people find my comments useful but I will stress these are things that work for me, others might not agree or be happy with them so each to their own.

Many people are now careful enough to ensure their facebook account doesn't link to their email, however many people forget to consider changing older social networking sites like myspace or friendsreunited. If you have used your email address in the past on one of those sites, you leave an internet footprint which can give people far too much information about yourself.
I tend to find it is best to have an entirely different email address and id for each site I use....that way, for example, if I meet someone on here using the name Mrs Blunt, then I don't then have them looking at my activity - even on other adult sites! If we part company on here, and I need to change my ID, I don't then have to change it on a number of other sites too!
