44. TOGG HILL - AVON
The UK's premier dogging site, no doubt! Leave M4 at J18, head south on the A46 towards Bath. Turn right at the roundabout, turn right after half a mile into picnic area (well signposted). "No lighting at night, so only people looking for action, gays tend to use area nearest toilet block (on the left as you enter parking area) and also in a dip on the right (behind the hedge), dodgers are at the far end of the car-park near the viewpoint..."
One Togger wrote: "The top of Tog Hill... ...to get to it, you come off the M4 at the Bath Junction, head for Bath until you come to a roundabout signposted Bristol (about four miles from the motorway), then take the Bristol road. About a mile on, at the top of the hill, is the picnic site. This is a pretty good site... ...couples tend to park their cars around the edge of the car-park, which is circular, and when they want someone to watch them they flash their headlights or interior lights... ...which is the cue to head over and watch! Generally, most couples feel comfortable with two, possibly three guys looking in the windows at once... ...so if there's a crowd of you, you need to take it in turns! Occasionally (and this is actually not that rare) they ask if you want to feel one of the partners, or even go somewhere and join in. The toilets should be kept clear of, unless you're bi/gay... ...since they are usually crowded with guys cottaging... ...even the women's toilet is used for this purpose! But there's plenty of woodland in the area if you need to take a leak or fancy some outdoor sport instead of staying in the car!"
And another: "There is a car-park just outside Bath, on the A420 between Bristol and Chippenham, just on the Bristol side of the A46, known as Tog Hill. Thursday and Sunday nights are best, and several regulars attend in VW campers from South Wales. I have seen them several nights and they allow you to watch, wank or join in. Also, many users stay in their cars and let you watch, some have been known to wind the windows down and suck while getting it doggy from their husband/boyfriend."
Yet another "We were there recently (Toghill), one night there were three women in cars, one lady in her 40s got out and fucked about half a dozen guys (including on the picnic table), sucked off at least that many more, a younger girl stayed in her car but wanked / sucked all cummers, the third simply invited a selected few to lick her out! Phew! The only problem was the greedy bastards in cars who wouldn't play the game, they kept following some other couples around and put them off, much to the irritation of the regulars. So if you're going to visit this site please be subtle!"
Some debate about the name, it's now either Tog Hill, Toghill, Togg Hill, Togg's Hill or Tog's Hill - but it all sounds pretty damn good - is this the UK's No 1 dogging site?! Well, this is what the readers say: "...shit and yes i agree tog hill is the best apart from studlands (see Dorset above) which is also cool..."
But,
sometimes the Doggers let themselves down; Rob and Carol Anoymouses wrote
(May 2000) the following response to a serious of complaints by couples: "...the
guys drive up, sometimes moving around the car-park in the cars. Stopping,
using High Beams, doing circles and offering no encouragement to the enlightened
couple. You are right, park up, be patient, and do not intrude until it is
obvious you are welcome. I venture to Birdlip/Togg perhaps three times a week
on my own and usually manage a look one or two times a week and at least two
participations a month. So it ain't all bad. Just when the rats arrive! I
don't know why they bother either, because most of the action takes place
when they are not around... ...their own fault though! Patience! The Mrs was
very annoyed but hope for Studland again soon if this rain would stay away..."
