43. SUSSEX - GENERAL

A: Arundel - "Haughton Picnic area, take the A284 North out of Arundel until the roundabout, there's a large car-park with toilets and cafe. I have been told that couples go here in the early evening but have not seen anything myself, there's a lot of gay sex goes on in the woods."

B: Brighton - "Devils Dyke - night time. Mainly straights but some exhibitionist couples. One or two reports of participation..." "...Off the A281, which is itself off the A23 just before the outskirts of Brighton." "Don't know if you have already have this but just in case you don't... ...on the way out to Devils Dyke near Brighton off the Brighton by-pass there are a number of picnic areas to the right hand side of the road that quite regularly have couples parked up in them. I have only seen two that were definitely there to put on a show but the rest were worth watching anyway. The further towards Brighton you are on this road the more it becomes a bi/gay location, however those areas closer to the "Devils Dyke" pub are usually couples only."

Brighton - "Dukes Mound area in Brighton - beware of the gays. Good hot action late at night at the weekends." Another apt name...

C: Littlehampton, Borstal Road - "...situated between the main A27 and Steyning, park up where the South Downs Way crosses the road (quite popular lunchtimes and at night)."

D: Littlehampton, High Salvington - "Car-park at the end of Heather lane - nights."

E: Littlehampton, Shoreham Beach - "Unofficial naturist beach - anytime."

F: Littlehampton, West Beach - "Fun at Littlehampton amongst the sand dunes - anytime..." "We go there on holiday every summer, and love to play in the dunes, my wife enjoys the attention and is always soaking wet with anticipation after a day in the sun!"

G: Truely Hill - "Car-park - nights."

H: Turners Hill - (Site 1): "To locate this site, proceed as follows: Leave the M23 at J10 (signposted Crawley and East Grinstead via the A264). Head towards East Grinstead on the A264. Straight across the first roundabout towards East Grinstead (if you see a Scientologist, remember to run him down). At the second roundabout, turn right by the public house/restaurant towards Turners Hill. Proceed along this road and across the village green crossroads. Head south out of Turners Hill for about a mile. Bear left at a fork in the road, signposted Sharpthorne. Turn first left about a hundred yards further on. Pass the Gravetye Manor Hotel on your right hand side and about half a mile past this you will find the entrance for Gravetye Manor National Trust car-park on your right hand side. This is an unmade road. The car-park is roughly surfaced and comprises of plenty of pull-ins and hideaways. This site is mostly used by gay and bi guys but couples (like us!) do use it from time to time. It is visited by the Police on occasions but anyone coming in can be seen in time thanks to the curved drive."

Turners Hill - (Site 2): "From the village green take the road westwards towards Pease Pottage and the A23/M23 to Brighton. At the T-junction turn left and take the next road on the right. The car-park is at the top of the small rise on the right hand side. We have seen couples here, looking for fun. Beware though that this is not particularly safe and is also used by straight courting couples. We'd recommend being very careful if using this site, 'cos its so near the road."

I: "Vowells Lane car-park - take the road from Turners Hill to Ardingly about one mile from Turners Hill turn left to Sharpthorne. After a hundred yards turn left again into Vowells Lane and the car-park is about a mile down on the right. I have mostly seen gay activity here but I have heard stories of couples."
